“Beyond Traditional Markets” — Trieste, a Stop That Confirms the Journey
Trieste hosted, at the Excelsior Savoia Palace, the second stop of the touring series Sport Trading Life is building around one of the most relevant topics for the future of alternative investments: the emergence of Prediction Markets as a new asset class.
Following the inaugural stop in Milan, the Trieste evening confirmed the growing interest around this topic, drawing a qualified audience of investors, entrepreneurs, and finance professionals gathered to explore a phenomenon that is steadily moving beyond niche status and onto the radar of operators focused on diversification.
The evening was guided by Martina Caiani Formica, who moderated the discussion and facilitated the dialogue between the speakers and the audience in the room.
Once again, the protagonist of the evening was Davide Renna, Founder & CEO of STL, who brought his operational protocol to the stage — built over more than 20 years of experience in decision-making applied to probability markets. Renna guided the audience through the principles underpinning his method — consistency, disciplined process, structured risk management — before broadening the scope to the evening’s central theme: how a quantitative, data-driven approach applied to a niche market can evolve into a genuine asset class, capable of attracting institutional capital in search of decorrelation.
Alberto Zaffignani, President of ICMA Italy (International Capital Market Association) and Senior Advisor at MDOTM, also returned for the Trieste stop, enriching the discussion with his institutional perspective, built over years of experience at firms such as Credit Suisse and Société Générale. His contribution allowed the audience to examine, with technical rigor, the criteria that make an asset genuinely investable — transparency, liquidity, governance — offering the same analytical lens typically applied to any other alternative investment class.
The evening closed on a strongly positive note: an engaged, attentive audience, a dialogue that balanced technical rigor with entrepreneurial vision, and confirmation that the journey started in Milan found, in Trieste, a second stop that lived up to expectations. STL’s roadshow now moves toward its third stop, scheduled in Milan on October 28.
